This course examines the unique requirements for hurricane prone coastal regions. This course will review the issues with design pressure and wind-borne debris requirements. We examine the building code requirements and testing standards. We will walk through an example of determining wind load requirements under the International Residential Code.

Instructor Peter Yost will lay the groundwork for designing, specifying, and building high performance homes: homes that are energy efficient, resource-efficient, durable, healthy, and valuable. Achieving this must start with building science: understanding how energy and moisture move on, through and in our buildings.
