Seminar Series
High Performance Houses:
Options for the Building Envelope |
This program is the first in a continuing series of seminars that will be hosted jointly by TW Perry (Building Supply Company) and the Small Firms Committee of AIA/Northern Virginia. This seminar series will feature four AIA approved presentations focusing on various components of the building envelope in wood-framed residential structures. Seminars will include:
- Mineral Wool Insulation: Sustainable Solutions for Thermal, Fire, and Sound Control. Presented by Roxul
- Managing Moisture and Solving Water Intrusion Problems. Presented by Tyvek
- Clearing the Fog: Water, Air and Vapor Management in Today's Wall and Roof Assemblies. Presented by Huber Engineered Woods
- Efficient and Sustainable Design Using Insulated Sheathings. Presented by Dow Building Solutions
In addition to the seminar presenters, a representative from TW Perry will also be available for consultation on their complete line of building supplies including an extensive list of green materials and products.
The seminars will be held at ITT Technical Institute on Friday, July 23rd, 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The cost is $20.00 for AIA members and $40.00 for non-members and each participant will receive 4 hours of continuing education credit (4.0 HSW/SD CES LU). A complimentary lunch will be provided by TW Perry and the companies presenting the seminars.

EPA Lead-Safe Certification Program

Who Needs to be Certified?
All firms that perform renovations for compensation must be EPA certified. Firms must also use certified renovators who are responsible for ensuring compliance with the rule's work practice standards and for training workers on the work practices on the job. TW Perry Presents the Roger Gregory 2008 Community Service Award
Charlie Little was chosen for the 2008 Roger Gregory Award because he has spent the last several years putting all of his efforts into helping build communities. He avidly works with a team from his Church to rebuild dilapidated homes for less fortunate members of his community of Purcellville, VA. He spends an evening once a week bowling with mentally challenged adults. He and his two daughters spent time in Biloxi, Mississippi helping to rebuild after the devastating hurricane Katrina.

TW Perry Presents the Roger Gregory 2007 Community Service Award
The 2007 Roger Gregory Service Award was presented to Greg Smith of the Greg Smith Company, nominated by Bill Dorn of TW Perry Springfield Sales. Greg Smith has been a volunteer with the Archdiocese of Arlington in their Workcamp Program for over 10 years. He is a leader in the youth based program which helps fix homes of those in need in the community. In 2007 he worked on approximately 85 homes. Greg has been very generous with his time and efforts and we are pleased to have him receive the award. The Roger Gregory Award consists of a crystal statue and a Scholarship fund. The award was presented to Greg Smith at the Mustang Raffle in October. |

TW Perry 2008 Golf Classic Raises Over $91,000
The TW Perry Golf Classic on October 1st raised more than $91,000 to benefit Rebuilding Together of Montgomery County. TW Perry recognizes the contribution of all the tournaments sponsors and participants, especially platinum sponsors AZEK Trimboards and Madison Wood Preservers.
